I have a 4-years-old Dell XPS Gen 5 whose ATI Radeon X850 XT Platinum I apparently just killed by trying to play HL2Ep2 :(

Do you think it's possible to give this machine another one or two years of life with a Sapphire ATI Radeon 5750? Would the PCIe 1.0 be a serious bottleneck? Would I need to upgrade the power supply as well? Are there any potential problems, I'm not seeing yet?

Setup:

Dell-branded motherboard, based on Intel's 955X Express chipset
Pentium 4 660HT 3,60 GHz
4 GB DDR2 667
460W power supply

the PCIe 1.0, would really kill the card, it is a major bottleneck, and so is the processor

the PSU is fine though

Do you have any idea which current card the system could handle?

Not bad. The "higher" cards from the 4000 series are out of the question, then?
