I'm a high school student and for a school project I plan on building a computer. I have built a computer before but to save on cost I was thinking of making a simple sever for like storing my information on from my other PC's (If that's what a server is). I need to know what's the different of a server compared to a normal PC? I know the software is different but is a server just a computer with more space but less power? What are the main components of a server? Any info would help!
A server can be whatever you'd like it to be. I have an old P4 w/HT machine in my basement working as a home server right now. It has an ancient Intel chipset, a 15" CRT, and sits there all by its lonesome keeping the random garbage I download ready to use for any of the 3 machines in the house.
