RAID 1 keeps degrading but no HD failure

Forum Storage : NAS/RAID RAID 1 keeps degrading but no HD failure

Hi all,

Can anyone guess why my RAID 1 keeps degrading? It will run shortly, then after a couple of days it will degrade. I keep wiping them clean and creating a new volume that works for a short period of time, and then it degrades. Sometimes it won't recognize one of the drives so I switch the SATA cables and that works momentarily, but then same thing, it degrades again.

Specs:

Windows 7 (64)

GIGABYTE GA-Z68XP-UD3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000 BX80623I72600K

GIGABYTE GA-Z68XP-UD3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

OCZ Vertex 3 VTX3-25SAT3-120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

2 x (RAID1)Seagate Barracuda 7200 320 GB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s NCQ 16MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive ST320DM000

Additional info:

The SSD is hooked up to the SATA3_1 port

The HDDs are hooked up to the GSATA3_1 and 2. I believe this is being run by the Marvell 91xx SATA 6G RAID Controller.

There are 2 things that are fishy that could be linked to the problem:

1. I did not install all the Intel RAID drivers because when I installed Windows, I was unaware that I needed a floppy. However, I believe that the RAID controller that controls the GSATA 3 is by Marvell which I think I have the RAID drivers installed (because they didn't require the F6 floppy thing)

2. When I bring up the "MarvellTray" it says the adapter has a max PCIe speed of 5Gb/s while my HDDs are 6Gb/s...

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!
