Hard Drive Won't Boot Anymore, Data is Fine Though

I am unable to boot from my hard drive. It started when I tried switching motherboards. After putting in the new one it showed the basic output stuff, but when the xp logo should have shown up the screen remained blank with a blinking cursor at the top. I could enter the BIOS and it recognized the correct size for the hard drive. So I put the old motherboard back in and it powers on but doesn't display anything on the screen and I am unable to enter the BIOS.

I took the hard drive and put it in another computer as a 2nd hard drive and all the data is there and I can read it. I tried using the hard drive as the master on my other computer and it could not boot from the drive either. It was able to enter the BIOS and detect the drive's size.

Any ideas what is going on here?

Try reformat? Back up data and reformat. If C is seperate from Data just reformat that, but still backup.
