Raid array

I just finished new system
asus rampage II extreme
4 x 1tb sata drives
i7 cpu
12 gigs ram

I tried setting up a raid 10. Only 2 disks showed up in windows explorer. I could see all 4 in device manager, etc. but clearly all was not right. Finally ended up reformating all 4 and making them simple/basic volumes with OS on C drive. However now I can't access the disc controller raid menu to reformat once more into a raid 10 array.
I think the problem the first time was didn't format and partition drives before creating array

Did you reconfigure the ICH for RAID?

You have to add the drives to the RAID and then partition (if need be) and format them.
