OS install help

I bought a copy of Windows xp pro version 2002 a long time ago and installed it on an old computer I don't use anymore. Since I don't use the old computer can I install this copy of windows xp on my dell computer that has a bad os beyond repair?

It depends on what version of XP it is. If it's an OEM version, and you never activated it, then the answer is probably assuming there are drivers and what not for the Dell. If it's an OEM version and you did activate it already, then no, the copy is locked to that old computer's hardware. If it's a retail version, then the answer is again yes provided you remove the copy from the old computer and the necessary drivers exist for the Dell to run XP.
