So, have you determined the problem or found a solution? I am considering this board for an upcoming i5 build and would like like to know if you got 8gb working. I have read in other posts that this board can be quite finicky about memory. People have suggested looking at Asus' website for recommended memory, but their list does not show any confirmed 8gb options!

I'm looking at the manual for this board and it says "Due to intel spec definition, X.M.P DIMMs and DDR3-1600 are supported for one DIMM per channel." That may be your problem.
