1) select one of the fan from above(your suggestion)
2) your fan suggestion

I would just stick with the cooler master 120mm R4. It's not overly expensive and it'll get the job done. If your getting too much noise from vibration, just pick up some rubber screws.

as a side note, many people like noctua fans. You will pay a large price premium for them though. The are quite good though, but in my opinion not worth the extra cash.

Also you can pick up some sound dampening foam. It reduces vibration and noise coming from the computer. It costs about $20 to do an entire case.

^^ Just some suggestions

hmm... well those are what you call blanket statements no proof just hear say without showing any proof i don't know about you but i don't listen to strangers posts without some proof of what their claiming instead i suggest you listen to professional reliable reviews that show proof of what they say while i am gathering up those reviews for you check these out there what i use but i am thinking you won't like them because don't fit the look your going for http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/acc/051/d1225c12b1ap_detail.html

I agree with you on the scythe i was told they were very silent though found out that's pretty false i still like them though so in the end decided to keep them
:)

As far as I know, the best way to reduce fan noise coming from the air moving is to move air over a larger area. For example: larger fans are able to move more air with less noise because the fan blades contact much more air at a single time. This creates less noise while smaller fans that "pressure" the air out create much more noise. Each year we receive new fan designs that try to have the blades contact as much air as possible and it's great we can still see them improving.

On Scythe fans, I would recommend them to anyone who dosen't mind a bit o' noise.(Have not had a crazy loud one yet)

On Cooler Master Fans, They are ok. Just decent fans at a good price. Nothing I can note that is particularly special. Note that I have yet to try their new line of fans though.

On Gelid Fans, They are SILENT.(period) The only drawback is the kinda low airflow. I have multiple in my coolermaster storm sniper and they are just wonderful. If your case has empty spots for fans, these are a great choice. They are a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Would also recommend these for home media centers any day. I had problems hearing the fan with my ear right next to it.

Also thanks for the feedback bigcyco1! It's nice to see people who are willing to cross-reference reviews once in a while and be so honest.
