Hello,

I am kind of having trouble overclocking my GPU

System:

CPU- i7-3770k @ 4.5Ghz (1.25v)
GPU- Asus GTX690
MOBO- Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe
RAM- G-Skill Ripjaws 8GB 2133Mhz
PSU- Corsair 850W
SSD- 128GB OCZ Vertex 4
HDD- 1TB WD Black 7200RPM
OS- Windows 8 Pro 64-bit

Okay so heres the issue, I've been trying to overclock my GPU and I have tweaked with it myself and I have also taken values of other peoples Overclock settings...
However, mine always crashes... Whether i use 3DMark 11, Unigine Heaven 3.0 or AIDA64 etc... My GPU will always crash:

3DMark would freeze someone along the benchmarking
Unigine Heaven 3.0 would also freeze and i would have to restart my system
AIDA64 just crashes the system

Would the issue be with my power supply or am overclocking the GPU the wrong way or is some kind of bottleneck occurring?

Thank you,
Sharni117

Sorry for jumping in like this! :) But really the 690 isn't meant for overclocking. Because its cooler isn't ready. See... When you overclock 10MHZ you're getting 20MHZ of performance because its TWO GPU's you're overclocking. And Two things you shouldn't mess with: The memory clocks (Unless you're using 3 or more monitors don't touch it) and voltages as I said the cooler of the 690 is already has it's limits infront of it. To be honest you should've asked the community before buying the 690. You should've bough the ASUS MARS III. Oh well.. You live and you learn?? Have fun mate. It's still the fastest graphics card in the world (You can say the ASUS MARS III is a modified 690?? Just to make you happy :kaola: )

I have a 690 hydro copper I just put the power target at max +70mhx for gpu and +223 for memory. I know I didn't do it the safest way and maybe I could get it to go faster but it's good enough for now. In witcher 2 with ubersampling on I would make my 2GB of memory out the memory offset should help with that right? I am on a 1440p res monitor BTW.

One thing nobody better dare mention 7950 or 7970GHZ because i assure the GTX 690 eats both those cards for breakfast! So red team fanboys you been warned i know you will be trolling this post like all posts about 670/680/690 trying to sway people to your team make sure to set the red koolaid down for a minute you can sip it after you read whole post OP already bought card.
Well yeah of course the 690 beats the 7970 lol. Ones a dual gpu card and ones not its pretty simple. Too bad AMD didn't release a 7990 (officially)

Yeah i wish they would have i am a fan of both but i noticed this forum is very AMD bias that is why i made that comment. There even some members here telling people asking for help a 7870 when over clocked out preforms 670 which is bs and i will not stay quiet when it comes to stuff like this if the advice being given is so far off like that i question what are the possibilities someone thinking 7870 can out preform 670 is smoking crack lol.
Well yeah.. But the AMD cards win against it's similarly priced NVIDIA counterparts (7750 beats the 640, the 7770 has a slight edge over the 650 in the 12.11 driver,7850 1GB kills the 650 Ti, 7870 and 660 are REALLY close but the 7870 has en edge in the 12.11 driver again, the 7950 kinda shows the 660 Ti the rapage, the 7970 (NOT GHZ but OCed) beats an OCed 680 by not much, but still 100$ cheaper. And with the same priced 670, it RAPES it.) I agree the 7870 can't COMPARE to a 670, but at the same 400$ price an ordinary 7970 well... It beats an OCed 680 lol.

I would agree with most of it basically anything at the or up to the $200 price point hands down AMD is offering better cards as far as the rest go i am not so bias i think 660 non ti is a good buy i think 7950/7970 and gtx 670 is good bang for buck!

I went with 670 because it favors the games i play and at the time i bought mine 7970 was not same price was $50 or $100 more i can't recall but played a big factor in my choice.Plus my personal experience is that Adaptive VSync makes my gaming experience smooth as silk. I don't use it on all my games, but it is nice to know that the option is there and that it works very well when needed. HardOCP, who did a full review on adaptive vsync, was impressed with it:

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/04/16/nvidia_adaptive_vsync_technology_review/3 I also have a 680 i traded two 570's for and it's a beast!I bought my son a R7950 that i really like as well i am more for no team i like both each have pros and cons neither is perfect so i can't pick sides
Dude I got an idea. Lets act like assholes here and start a flame war :p http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/376510-33-evga-7970

Edit: Well you beat me there... But do you think I should wait for the 8970 or get the 7970 now and it's good? I personally don't mind turning off AA or shadows. I will just use the SMAA injector :p
