imma noob really about oc :heink:

so its like the title here, my expectation isnt really high though. just want "meh, its not really eye cacthing but good"

i know a little about multiplier and offset setting, but if anyone can suggest what best setting for me im very gratefull. and best setting for me means low temp possible and ofcourse not bsod :p

i'd like hitting 4Ghz only for my daily 24/7. i do pretty much gaming and sometimes do a little rendering and converting.

here is my rig :

Proc : i7 2700k stock speed @3.4ghz
Mobo : Gigabyte GA Z77X D3H
Ram : Corsair CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10R Vengeance (2x8gb)
Vga : Gigabyte HD 7950 3gb 384bit
Psu : Gigabyte Superb 720w
Cooler : Spire Thermax Eclipse 2
SSD : Corsair Force Series 240Gb
Case : Dazumba D-Vito 801 Gaming

i know the stock speed can fillup my needs but when i do games the other me just saying "it isnt enough, more power biatch". so guys any help? please make it easy to understand, ok..

Thanks before and Brofist.. :)
and yeah i love gigabyte

are you using the stock cooler? how about the temp? idle and full load. i dont want it go over 60C when i play games. is the temp will be ok? is there any difference in temp too if i go to 4.3ghz rather than 4ghz

I use a Cooler Master V6GT cooler.

Temps:
27-33 degrees idle depening on ambient
60-63 degrees full load (Prime95 and AutoCAD render)
42-50 degrees gaming

Honestly, 70 degrees is perfectly safe so I wouldn't be worried.

Yes, there will be a difference in temperatures between 4.3 and 4 GHz. If 4 is enough, stick with that. I found that 4.3 is the limit of nice 24/7 use for my set up.

ah i see, i'll try make it 4Ghz 1st whether it doesnt go above 60 using prime, im so concern about the life span. if its still go above 60 degrees about 1 or 2 more than that its ok, but if more than your max degree with full load prime95, sadly, i'll make it lower than 4Ghz. 3.8 or 3.9 maybe :(

thank you very much jay-z i appreciate your suggestion and help :)

No worries. 4.0 is very easy to reach. If you keep the voltage as low as possible while remaining stable, the temps should be fine. I don't know much about the spire thermal eclipse but it would be better than the stock cooler. The 2600k/2700k is an awesome overclocker. I have seen them run at up to 5.2 GHz 24/7 comfortably using watercooling.
