Just bought some new RAM for my machine. Put it in, now it won't turn on. Any ideas?

I've tested it with this RAM and it works fine...

Hi bendyferret and welcome to Tom's hardware forum.

Cna u test the rig with only one RAM stick installed?

Yes, it boots with one or both sticks of the OCZ... but I've tried with both the G-Skill sticks separately and neither work in either slot.

Can u test the G.Skill in another rig?

Yes, the G-skill works fine on a Gigabyte- EX58 UD5, both sticks.

The only difference I can see between the two is the timings... OCZ is 9-9-9-20, G-skill is 9-9-9-24 2N

The only thing that I can thing about this is a compatibility problem since the RAM works fine in other mobo.

That was my first guess, but all the numbers add up...

SHUTTLE:

2 x 240 pin DDR3 DIMM slots,4GB per DIMM (Max 8GB)
Dual Channel DDR3 800/1066

RAM:

8 GB
Dual channel
DDR3-1333
PC3-10666

I see no reason why it shouldn't work.

Ah, funny how its clearer when I write it down. The shuttle takes 800/1066 but the ram runs at 1333. Do you think I can slow it down in BIOS?

By default the mobo select the best speed for the RAM that u install.
