4870 sufficient for my rig?

Hey guys,

My current rig is an AMD AthlonX2 6000+, 2 gigs of DDR2 800 and an old Radeon X1950pro 256.

I am running XP 32bit so I know I am limited, I want to upgrade my card though for a larger monitor (looking at 23 inch widescreen).

Will the 4870 1 gig be sufficient to run games on high on that monitor? I would assume so, but want to be sue before I pull the trigger on it. Thanks!

depends what the res is

with the 4870 you can run almost every game on high or medium

I can run any game on my 4870 on 1920x1080 at ultra high settings with AA off or 2x with 60 FPS mostly. The only exceptions are crysis (mixture of high and very high and smooth gameplay), NFS shift. Most of the games out there are based on Unreal engine which my card just loves to eat for breakfast, haha. Dark void at 100FPS... I just love this card...
