Long time reader 1st time poster presenting a problem (or not)
Let me kick off with this, ive checked hours upon hours upon hours of forums posts / google checks / guide's / benchmarks how to overclock my 2500K sandy bridge
My system specs:
MoBo - MSI P67A-GD65
CPU - 2500K sandy Bridge
CPU Cooler - Cooler Master 612S
PSU - Coolermaster 500W
Memory - 2x4gb Corsair Vengeance
GPU - Asus Radeon 4850 1gb
HD - Sata 7200rpm hardisks x3
Alright now my problem:
I followed the excelent guide's here on Toms hardware to overclock to 5000ghz.
It worked but i cannot believe the temps i am getting.
After several stresstests these are the results
Prime95 4 hours torture - temp not getting higher then 62 degrees at 5000ghz
Intel burn tests x10 - 65 degrees
Intel cpu strestest - 62 degrees
The voltage i have setup is 1.4 voltage

Speedfan - these always shows me to lowest temps out of all temp sofware used any reason why that could be ?
hit gold for both really.... i have seen others get 5ghz on air in the past but then ive never overclocked a i5/i7 (intel) before always been a amd person. your temps seem fine and your only at 1.4 volts which is good as well. would have thought your psu is a bit low but then like i say might be different for a intel setup.... if you are unsure about this overclock then i would maybe down clock a little to 4.8 just to be on the safe side..
Yes my PSU is old it feeded my previous I7920 for more then 3 years and it still serve's me well
I am taking your advise and clock back to 4.8ghz to be more safe.
Still dont thrust those temps specialy the diffrence between idle temps from Speedfan and Aida.
Is there any1 out there who have a similar setup and achieved stable clocks on air cooling with these clocks / voltage ?
My only real concern would be would you want to run at 5 ghz stable all the time. I would maybe push to 5 when you can for benchmarks then go to something less extreme maybe 4.2-4.5. Just considering the lifespan of your cpu in all of this.
Still find it strange that my temps would just not go beyond 68 degrees with all these cpu stress tests with a simple cooler master 612S.
I realy tought something was not monitoring my temps right with these tests.
Was already thinking my good old PSU of 500W was messed up, but i figured temps are monitored from the MoBo
Also can you clear up why Speedfan is showing me much lower temp values then all the other temp software ?
My Asus HD radeon old timer 4850 oc to 680 (625 standard clock) is heating up to 80 degrees in full load.
I wanted to buy the 670 or 7970 but decided to wait it out untill Ati comes out with the 8xxx series.
