Wireless only works when installation laptop is on?

Hey there,

my father has a laptop, and whenever I visit him I can only log on to his wireless when his laptop is on, logged in, and connected to his dlink router. The model is a 615.

Seems odd to me.

Setting in the install on that laptop?

This may not help but could be worth a try as it's relatively simple .

Check TCP/IP Properties in your and dad's computers.

Start, Connect To, Connection, Properties, Scroll Down TCP/IP and highlight, click Properties and check that Obtain DNS and IP address automatically are enabled.
