Overheating enclosure hard drive

Will a 7 year old 3.5" ultra dma hd overheat a lot if i salvage as a external device? I want to use it for my wii/ps3 for gaming and i worried because its so old. Thanks. ps is $20 normal for an 3.5 ide enclosure?

Be sure to format the drive for fat32, otherwise the PS3 won't be able to read it.

You shouldn't have any trouble with an enclosure. If you're worried about overheating, you should prefer an aluminum enclosure, rather than a plastic one, or even one with a small fan (although it might be noisy).
