Gigabyte RMA Process

Well, it turns out that my motherboard is half-screwed and needs to be RMA'd to fix the problem.

A little bit of Googling seems to turn up the fact that Gigabyte's RMA process SUCKS. Like "I waited 7 weeks, and they shipped me back a broken motherboard" sucks.

So I was wondering if it would just be better to buy a new one of the same model off of Newegg, then once I have that installed RMA the broken one and then just sell that when I get it back weeks later, since not having access to my PC for multiple weeks would cause issues.

  1. ^ YEP but just not GA. If the MOBO is <30 days always use the reseller.

How did you determine MOBO was the cause?
  2. Memory slots seem to be screwed up. Putting dual-channel memory in slots 1-2 brings up system crashing errors about 12 hours later after being turned off (weird, isn't it?), and slots 3-4 will cause the system to not even POST if there is memory installed there.
  3. Okay - maybe a solution. 2 questions:
    1. What GA MOBO?
    2. What DDR? Need EXACT part-number or link.
  4. Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128425
    Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211409

Right now I'm using one of those ADATA modules, and a 1GB Crucial module in the first two slots, which works for now.
  5. The DDR is not supported, it "seems" not to be your GA-P55-USB3.

Purchase either Certified by GA or Tested by RAM Mfg {configuration).

    GA-P55-USB3
    Certified DDR - http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3440#memory%20support%20list

    Tested DDR A-DATA -http://www.adata-group.com/index.php?action=ss_main&page=ss_dcs
    Tested:
    AD3U1333C4G9 DDR3 1333 4GB Module
    AD3U1333B2G9 DDR3 1333 2GB Module
    AD3U1333B1G9 DDR3 1333 1GB Module
  6. So neither memory nor RAM are bad, it's just a compatibility issue with the RAM speed?
  7. No, I listed ALL of the compatable A-DATA DDR:
    AD3U1333C4G9 DDR3 1333 4GB Module
    AD3U1333B2G9 DDR3 1333 2GB Module
    AD3U1333B1G9 DDR3 1333 1GB Module

    This A-DATA {+$3} is Tested - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211364&Tpk=AD3U1333B2G9
