Transferring from old HD to new.

Hello,
Dell has just replaced my old hard drive and sent it back to me so I can transfer everything (most importantly windows programs that I paid a lot for when I purchased the computer) what is the easiest way to go about transferring everything from my old HD to my new one?

What programs are you trying to move? Generally you would get cds, or an activation code or something to be able to reinstall software which is going to be the easiest way. There is no clean way to move an already installed program.

Typically you would just be copying off media files, office files etc which you can just move around freely unlike programs which place files all over your machine and have lots of registry entries.
