Just wanted advice on this system i am thinking of building; recommended upgrades i am willing to spend a bit more so please feel free to be critical. My preference is a pc for gaming not hardcore but just one that will do the job well and with stability.

Thanks ace19887

while also being a fast multi tasking system (reason for the i5's over the quads, and the larger cache). Note the ram has a timing of 7-7-7-20 (But I am dubious over the choice of brand; should I pay the extra and go for the Cosairs?)

The i5 750 is a quad mate, don't change it tho as it's the CPU of choice for gaming. And I wouldn't hesitate to get that Patriot RAM if it was me.
What is the resolution of your monitor? I ask because at some resolutions the 5770 probably won't cut it.

Sorry. I meant over the E8xx series. And I have not got a monitor yet. But looking to get 1920x1080 full HD ones.

Thanks for that. But newegg, com don't ship to the UK. And I can not seem to find it on aria.com, or ebuyer.com I'll have a look round.
Regarding the USB 3, what ASUS mobo would you recommend?

And regarding the graphics card, the next ones up, the 5850 are nearly double in price.
I'm not sure if that cost for me is justifiable, because I'll be settle for play at a lower resolution. Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

You can also consider the 4890 if you can find one. Otherwise those benchmarks usually have all details set to high and you can turn a few of them down to get good framerates as well as good looking games.

Heard the 57xx more power efficient then previous models, and since I am getting a 500Watt PSU. With the case I don't want to have to purchase a more powerful PSU.
Sorry for this stupid questions: but is the Graphics card used when your simply playing games or does it also influence the speed of say: video and picture editing and watching BluRays.
