Unable to connect my laptop

installed a router and was unabled to connect my laptop. even tough I was able to view avialable networks now I get nothing erxcept a yellow exclamation point on the newtwork adaptor in the device mgr. What happened?

What type of network adapter ? If it's built into the laptop go to laptop maker's site and look for latest driver -- if you can identify chipset (especially Intel) go to chip maker's site which may have more recent version.
