Will this work?

I have a newish acer computer with a core 2 quad 6 gigs ddr2 750gb hard drive and only a 250w power supply.

With this will there be enough power to run a 5770? I know they are low power but that is really low. What do you guys think?

No u can't...
upgrade your PSU first, get a good brands like Corsair, Antec, OCZ, SilverStone, etc. with 500W minimum.

The 250W is not designed to handle a gaming card. Get a decent 500W and go from there. Don't cheap out either, there are alot of deals on good PSU that are waiting to be found.

If you have enough money for a 5770 you definitely have enough for a decent power supply.

Is it one of the micro-towers or a full sized case? If its a normal size computer case you can put in a high quality 400-500w ATX power supply for $30-50. The best brands with offerings in this price range are Corsair, Antec, Seasonic, and OCZ.
