Are there RAM kinds that don't work with AMD but do work with Intel, and vice versa? If so, where do I find out which kinds of RAM work for AMD?

RAM should perform equally well with either CPU. The JEDEC stds are the basis for DDR and DDR2; DDR3 got out there before its stds were completed.

They key is the motherboard, and some motherboards seem to have "preferences." If you are not sure a specific RAM kit will work with your board, either choose RAM from the board's Qualified Vendor List (QVL) published by the motherboard manufacturer, or ask here because someone here is probably using the RAM you want with the motherboard you want.
