Computer Wont Recognize 3gb Ram

i have a Asus F5R with Preloaded Windows Vista Home Premium, it came with 1gb ddr2 ram and recently installed another 2gb of same type ram. When i look into the bios it only shows up with 2gb when it should be showing 3gb.
