OVERCLOCKING: No

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Already have OS (win xp home) I haven't opened for 8yrs. This is a new pc for my Mom who insists that her gateway from like 20yrs ago is fine (it is really horrible-512mb of ram and a 60gb hard drive,not to mention how many programs she is unable to run on this dinosaur) it's a present. I would like some suggestions on all the parts that I need. It needs to be fast and quiet. Thank you

Budget? Also her P4 is A Ok for microsoft word, you're mom doesn't do any Gaming/Encoding/Heavy duty stuff does she? She prolly is right about her p4 bring just fine.

What I'm saying is that the build suggested in your previous thread would work great for this system. What is the budget for the build?

Depending on the budget, even a dual-core or triple-core CPU would be fine for the stated use.
