Modern RAM is typically: 1, 2, and 4GB in size with speeds typically 1066, 1333, 1600, 1800 and 2000 MHz.

A good recommendation is to cross-reference your MOBO {Motherboard} with Certified DDR or Tested DDR with RAM Mfg using their online Configuration tools.

DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800); DDR3 - "double-data-rate three synchronous dynamic random access memory " Speed - 12800/8 = 1600 MHz.
