Ok i just purchased a new machine. I would like to play crysis on atleast high settings, with just 1024 by 768. i have a amd phenom 2 x4 quad processor running at 2.8ghz,it came with integrated geforce 9100 graphics, but i replaced it with my older 6800 gs which runs pretty quick.my power supply is 450 watts,i have 8 gb of ddr3 ram,1 terabyte hd and all that good stuff.

Everyone on forums keep saying how you need a 500 dollar graphic card to play the game at very high with like 243243254 by 3243251345 lol.i just wana play it at high with 1024 by 768.Any advice on what i could buy guys?.

Even for your very small resolution you need a good 70$ card. The card you mentioned is rubbish. I wouldn't even feed it to the dog   .The rest of your system is very nice. If you already spent so much on it go and spend at least 70$ for a GPU. Cheapest choice is the 9600GT. 100$+ gives you the 5750 which will give you very high settings on your resolution in Crysis. Go higher, you get better performance.

At that resolution, you should be able to enjoy Crysis without breaking the bank. BUT, your CPU speed may limit your overall FPS. A 2.8ghz x4 (Phenom II 920 I assume?) isn't a slouch, but the game responds very well to Overclocking.

That being said, your 6800gs will indeed be a severly limiting factor. Upgrading to a $100-150 card that will be comfortable with your PSU should give you an outstanding performance boost. Hell, even a $70 4670 will make your 6800gs look like a litebrite. Google it if you don't know what I am talking about, heh.

I can't in good faith recommend a comparable nvidia product for someone who is trying to achieve bang for the buck. Not that Nvidia cards are bad, but for what you pay, you don't get the same performance.

What brand PSU do you have and what are the specifications? As long as they are decent, a 5770 or even a 5750 will get you where you want to go. That is a very low resolution and either of these cards would do fine for you. I suggest this card because I would hope you would consider a bigger/higher res monitor in the near future. It really enhances your gaming experience.

Thanks guys for the info.I have a gaming high performance thermal intake power supply. So you think my processor is too slow for crysis ?.I thought a quad core would do well.As for hallowed thanks for the info i am going to buy 1 of these as soon as i get another ammount of cash.Budgets limited at moment.

I just enjoy playing my games,i got so sick of low settings where everything was a blur. They hurt my eyes nonstop.I was recently playing crysis with a 3.2 ghz p4 single processor lol.and i ran the game on low pretty well. The game says i can run on medium when i click optimize settings. But i want high atleast.

I enjoy games its my passtime when i have nothing to do.

Do yall think my machine is capable enough to do the job if i purchased a new card?

my 6800gs is overclocked its from evga.i know its pretty old lol but its all i got at moment.
