I never heard of this before, so I googled it.

Every result seems to be the same. A "dedicated switch port" is a term used for hosting services. Some services will *virtualize* your network connection and share several of these virtualized network devices over a single physical network device.

Having a "dedicated" port means you're not sharing with anyone.
