Any benefit to crossfiring 2 4670s that have different memory freqencies?

I have a MSI 4670 ddr video card now, and my friend has a XFX 4670 ddr2 video card. Will cross firing these 2 video cards be beneficial or will I lose performance because of lowering it to DDR2?

I'm just curious if it's worth the time.. I just bought a 790fx motherboard and an azza solano case with a 965 black edition with a WD 500 gb blue and a 730 Azza power supply. I have around 715 in the setup and I have (hopefully) 100 worth of rebates. I'm totally happy with the setup except with using the old 4670 video card. I dont really have the money to buy what I want (5870) so Im thinking about going with a 5750 and adding another 1 ( or 3) later. 2 5750's or 2 4870's ? lol so many questions

My friend got a 5.8 on his windows index rating using the ddr2 xfx 4670. I get a 6.8 with my MSI ddr3 4670. He would give me the XFX, but I just beleive the offset of DDR2 is going to outweigh the benefit of crossfiring the 2 cards.

Another thing i've even thought about is quad crossfiring 4 4670's because of their size and the 4 pci express mobo. I don't know if i could squeeze 4 of any other video card in there.

5850 will be a much better value than he 5870, $100+ cheaper.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=40000048&Description=5850&name=Desktop%20Graphics%20%2f%20Video%20Cards
visiontek, his, and powercolor 5850s for only 290 + free shipping.
up to $30 cheaper getting two 5750s ($130 each) on newegg right now.
and $10 cheaper getting two 4870s ($140 each). (5870 performance but its two cards and no DX11).

I personally like to start with single card setups then give myself the option to crossfire later. Mainly because I can't find a use for two cards later if I upgrade (don’t want to hassle with ebay).

I would not crossfire more than 2 cards because the 3rd and 4th will add a minimal amount of power for what they are worth.

I really can't afford that 5850 now ( i guess i could if its really worth it). I was thinking 5750 then add another. Your right about just buying one though that way i dont have to stress about it later. In a year how much lower in price will the 5850 be if you had to guess? Thanks for your help you've saved me alot of time instead of reading 20 diff reviews and still being confused.

4870 came out late june 2008 ~19 months ago and cost ~$300, since then it has dropped 50%. The 5870 came out in late Sep 2009 and cost $400, ~15 months later. So a resanable assumtion that in about maybe ~11 months the 6000 series should come out and the 5870 should loose about 50%, $200, of its value just as the 4870 has. (mostly just assuming the trend continues)
