I5 3570k overclock question

Last response: in Overclocking

I have a Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H motherboard with the i5 3570k processor and hyper 212 evo. I'm not looking to get 5.0 ghz out of this processor. I simply wanna hover around 4.0 to 4.2. Is there a way to do this without changing voltages? Couldn't I just change the multiplier to 40 or 42? Or will it get too hot by not changing the voltage? Secondly, does anyone know of a good guide for overclocking this particular CPU and motherboard?

I'm guessing you would want to change the voltage, as it wouldn't be a huge process since you're OCing the cpu anyway, and it's better to adjust all settings accordingly in order to optimize the overall performance.

In other words, it MIGHT not get too hot, but why leave it up to chance and risk it?

You can hit 4.2ghz on Auto Voltage!! just change your Cpu Clock Ratio 4.2ghz & Disable Turbo speed!! leave everything else enabled or auto!! if you wanna go higher gonna have to change the voltage!!

What are you trying to get?? I'm at 4.5ghz at 1.244v with Vcore Loadline Cal. Turbo

I had a Hyper 212 Evo :) ) I got at 4.4ghz at 1.295v..... Temps was up in the 70+
I took it back & got Antec 420 620 Water Cooling & now up to 4.5ghz I did got at 4.8ghz but went back 4.5 is good for me!!
