I have Sony 8Gb pen drive. I was trying to make it usb win 7 bootable drive using command prompt and messed it up.

Now I have two comps with Win and Ubuntu on it:
On win7,it shows up under disk management but not able to format.
On ubuntu i have drive disk utility, gparted, fdisk and dmesg; nothing could help to format the hard disk.
I get this message:

If it shows up in disk management, can you right click and create a simple volume (initialize it)? Then you can format it.

If it shows up in Ubuntu then you can secure erase it.

It is showing under System > Administration > Disk Utility (/dev/sdb) -- however when i try to format using it it gives error as no medium found.

Could you please let me know more about how can i secure erase it. do i have to use a tool or are there any commands?

You can use this link to help in doing the secure erase and even though it is from the OCZ forum and is for a SSD all you have to do is substitute the pen drive for the SSD. The post is long and may seem to be hard to do as it did to me the first time I tried it but it is easy to do.
