I have a HD tv, do I still need the HD receiver?

Hello,

I subscribed to DirecTV and I wanted to get the cheapest package possible, but they said i need an HD receiver if i have a HD tv. Mine is an LG flat screen tv.

Do i need to get the HD receiver for my TV to work?

You can use a standard receiver, but you will only get channels in standard definition. In order to get HD Channels you will need the HD receiver

Along with getting the HD channels you have to pay for the HD package. If you get local channels or movie channels, you will get thoes HD channels for free, but you need the HD receiver.
