Cd/dvd does not read disks on my laptop

Hello, My cd/dvd drive does not read the disks. would I be able to repair this myself and how?

Generally speaking here is what to do:

On most laptops they use a slim line DVD player. If you look at the bottom of your laptop you should see a bunch of screws. If you have a decent laptop they should be labeled, as one of them is the screw lock for the DVD drive. Basically take that screw out and the drive should slide out and all you have to do is slide a new drive in. Check the manufacturer's website and it may list the OEM model of DVD player to use.
