Asus A8V-E Motherboard Problem?

Last response: in Motherboards

Hi all,

I have an Asus A8V-E Motherboard with a 3200(?) cpu (not 100% sure on CPU, been a while and mobo currently in storage). I know this setup is quite outdated but I'd like to resurrect it for a friend in need. However, I had problems with the system hanging. OS & prog installs would take 2 or 3 times longer than they should, boot-up was annoyingly slow, and just general lag in every task. I did a little bit of basic troubleshooting such as bios update, reset factory defaults, and ram swaps. Got nowhere and otherwise forgot about it. Just wondering if maybe there could be something I overlooked or haven't tried before filing the mobo under "G", or maybe if there's even the possibility it's the cpu? Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Mike

Welcome Newcomer! :)

If giving to a friend and with the stated problems:
1. Clear CMOS {otherwise Load Defaults}
2. Reformat & Reinstall OS

Microsoft Windows XP SP3 {ISO} -

This is the quickest way to troubleshoot and remove your personal data.

Good Luck!
