Hello all,

Long time reader first time poster. Been looking all over for a solution to this so any advice much appreciated.

I have:

- An X79 Sabertooth mobo in a Fractal Design R3 case (tight fit I know)

- 32GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM (the kind with the obnoxious heat sinks, used for Adobe AE which does indeed eat up that much RAM). I plan to upgrade to 64GB of RAM soon as I'm regularly maxing out the 32 so lets assume all DIMM slots are filled with said RAM.

- Intel 3930K CPU

I'm using a stock cooler that is running too hot for comfort (50c idle) and want to find the best cooler that I can. Ideally to minimally overclock but happy just to have things running cool.

Problem here is that the easy solution via the Corsair H series water coolers will not fit in my case. None of them it seems.

So I am looking for a CPU air cooler that will fit both the tight case and the x79 mobo with all DIMM slots filled with tall RAM.

Any ideas/suggestions MUCH appreciated!

if you wanna fill all of your memory slots with tall memory heatsink, thermalright archon is a good option ..

it has designed to make some clearance with memory sot so you can use your all of your memory slot ..

Orrrr....You can slide up your fan to expose enough to clear the top of your ram..That is the cheapest way. So what it is off set. Unless you are OCD and then you will never get any rest.

Ah indeed, but then it starts to hit the edge of the case I'm afraid. So best option starting to look like buying a bigger case...

Hi Morggg,

This is Steve from Thermalright.
According to our friends at the Archon club @ www.overclock.net the Fractal R3 can in fact fit the Archon + TY-150 fan with roughly 1mm to spare. Case manufacturers tend to play it safe when recommending on fitting and clearance issues, which is understandable. In this case actual user experience shows that the R3 can fit up to 170mm coolers.

Also the slim nature of the Archon series allows for full RAM usage on X79 and LGA2011 boards.

Also, I would suggest the new Archon X2 SB-E if you can find one! :sol:
