thats a hard one... your'e asking to much for too little... I'll assume that you don't need an os.
mb: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... 119.99$ free shipping with 30$ mail rebate
cpu+mem: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite... 281.98$ after discount and before rebates.
gpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... 154.99$ before rebates.
hd: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... 59.99$ after discount
psu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... 74.99$ before rebates
dvd: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... 24.99$
total: 721.93$
this leaves you about 80$ for the case, here I cannot help.

if you are willing to let go the evga restriction, you can get this gb mb with usb 3.0 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... at 119.99$ and this gpu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... at 159.99$ after discount and before rebates which are better then the evga one.

damm, I've made it.
if you need an on included, get a amd based build.

$600 makes it the budget system range. You'll get better value with AMD.

Phenom II X 4 955 for my choice of CPU.

who's hd is that? why get a athlon II x4 when he can get 955?
suggesting an nvidia chipset based mb is a bad idea, really bad one as they are crap.
the 250 is worst then the 5770, check tom's Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart.

for an amd based, check this: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/forum2.php?config=tom...

A GTS 250 is gonna choke on 1680 X 1050. With this budget, you should be able to afford a 5750, 4870, or GTX 260. I stii say you'll get more bang for the buck with AMD.
This Intel/Mobo combo is around $300. If he went AMD w/am3 mobo for around $160, he might be able to fit in a 5850 in the budget. If I had an $800 budget for a gaming rig to play on 1680 X 1050 resolution, the first thing I'd get is a 5850, sometimes on sale for $275.

I'm with you 100%, I've gave him what he wanted... it's his choice from here on, that is why I've started the post with "your'e asking to much for too little"
