Need new power supply.

I'm in the market for a new PSU.
I'm swaying towards a Corsair PSU. I've always liked the Corsair stuff.

My setup is:

Core 2 Duo 2.2
4GB Corsair RAM DDR2
4 HHD's Sata 2
4+ Fans

and I'm in the market for some new graphics cards/card.

What would be sufficient for me? I use A LOT of usb devices also.

Btw, why do they make 1000W PSU's? What kind of crazy setup would require that much? Most people recommend 700w for most applications.

  1. What is your budget?

What is your monitor's native resolution?
  2. and budget is about $100-200

Video card...based on your rig, you could do well with a ATI 4850/4870 or a GTX 260. They're last generation, but they still work REALLY well. Better bang for the buck in my opinion. You can also check out the "Best Graphics Card for the Money" articles on this site. They rarely stear you wrong.

PSU...I like Antec and Seasonic. I usually try to stick to anything that says "80 Plus".
  4. Best card for you is a HD5770 which will do fairly good for 1680X1050.
    Costs around 160$

    XFX HD5770:

If you wanna run a single HD5770 then a Corsair 400W PSU will suffice:

If you wanna Crossfire 2 5770s is future then consider a Corsair 550W PSU:

Corsair 550VX will suffice for any single GPU rig. So if you upgrade in future you can use this PSU again in the new rig :)
  5. Im thinking of cross-firing 2 5770s. What kind of supply should I get based on that?
  6. A 550 watt PSU will run that as long it is a quality power supply.

    This corsair could power it
    Corsair 550 watt
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139004

But I would get this one
    Corsair 650 watt

Also SeaSonic has some nice PSU's
    620 watt

    Already told ya!

Corsair 550VX will suffice for CF 5770.
  8. Oh sorry dude!
I only saw: "Corsair 550VX will suffice for any single GPU rig."

    Okay cheers.

Still not confident on what cards/card to get. I hate these choices. :P
