Im planning to build my comp from the ground and going with AMD as my cpu. What i want is some more info about what GPU i should get as i have around 900~ (the wifey may let me go to 1k) to spend on this rig. This will be for gaming like MW2, Fear, MMOS.....ect. It boils down to the 4850x2 which is nice foro 200usd, the 5770 which has dx11 and is 179usd, and the 300usd 5850. I can get the 5770 and get another down the road.

Solution
Go with the single card option. A single 5850 will give you an upgrade path later when it starts to get old and you get a second one to crossfire. (by that time the 5850 will be a lot cheaper too)

I like the 5850, it still leaves Plenty of room with a 1K$ budget for a very nice AMD system.

Do you already have some components that you would use for the system? like hard drive or monitor or DVD burner?

yeah i have a bluray from my old system and everything else will be new Ive chose the AMD PIIx4 955 3.2Ghz as my CPU of choice. if i dont need an expensive Card then ill settle for the 5770 as ne thing now will be a huge upgrade from my old 8800gtx.

If you need an OS and Monitor, then go with a 5770. If not, then go for a 5850. If you get a 5850, you may also want to get a more powerful PSU so that you can crossfire latter. If you go with the 5770 though then you won't need as much power to run two of those latter on and you'll have room in your budget for a nice monitor, the OS, and peripherals.

have win 7 already to as i would love to have a new monitor to but what would be the performance between the 5850 and 5770? if not much ill go with the 5770 and get a new, larger monitor.

Hit up Newegg, with a $1,000.00 balance, start with a 5850, then go on from there building your AMD rig. the 5850 will be a nice selection for your monitor.

the 5850 is roughly $300.00 leaving $700.00 left for the rest, plenty of room....
