Alright, so here's the deal.

I plan on getting a Qosimo X505-Q860 somewhat soon. This particular model comes with an i5 430m, but the "higher end" models which only really contain blu-ray as an upgrade and maybe some additional ram come with an i7 720qm.

Now I assume that the model I am getting will be able to upgrade to an i7 in the future, but I am not 100% sure.

I know that the Asus G60JX is able to upgrade to an i7, and it also comes with an i5 430m.

So I was wondering if anyone knows for a fact that I would be able to upgrade to an i7 in the future.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hello

You should be able to. The core I5 and the core I7 both use the same socket type.

Check there, the Qosmio uses the intel PM55 mobile chipset which supports up to Core I7 mobile extreme edition. So yes you will be able to upgrade in the future, just depends on when you do, because if you wait too long they may stop making those mobile processors and will become hard to find.
