Few days ago my hard disk showing corrupted by dell diagnostic utility
also it slowed down my system performance drastically.
So, i am now planning to buy a new hard disk for my laptop.
so i need your help on deciding which type of hard disk should i go for

1 internal hard disk.(personally think not much useful)
2. external hard disk (with eSata port of size 1 TB)

so in my view i think external has an extra hand over internal
But can i install OS on external hard disk and boot my laptop from it?

Please comment. Thanks in advance.

I think you would be better off replacing the internal HDD because most laptops will not boot to an OS from an external HDD. You can get them up to 1GB. You have to check the specifications on your laptop make and model to determine whether or not it can boot to and OS from an external HDD.

I think that in your case depending on what you have to spend you could get a 120gb SSD for the internal drive and a 1tb external drive. The SSD will make you think that you have a supercharged laptop.

I agree with Inzone, you wouldn't believe how much an SSD will speed up a laptop.
