Yes - a single nvidia card will work on an ATI MOBO (assuming you have a PCI-e slot)- you just will not be able to use Xfire or SLI to install a second card (Nvidia cards use SLI where ATI MOBOs support Xfire and they do not work with each other).

One more thing to keep in mind is does your system have a good enough Powersupply to run the new video card (many pre-built system s only have 300W PSUs so you would need a new Powersupply as well !

You need two things
1) a pci express x16 slot
2) a strong enough power supply with a 6 pin pcie power connector

The brand of the card shouldn't matter but you might not have enough power to run a 9800gt. You might consider a card that doesn't require an extra power connection like the ati 4650 or 4670 or the nvidia GT 240.

I can get the powersupply later right?,It wont affect the install? i have 300watt right now

IF the Powersupply does not have enough power to run the new video card then the system will either be unstable (if it is close but not enough under heavy usage) or not run at all (if it is way underpowered) - Worst case would be that it has enough to run for awhile but winds up burning out while running a game (as the power spike from it dying could also damage the new video card or the MOBO or CPU or other parts of the hardware ! - So you'll want to upgrade the powersupply either before the new video card or at the same time !!

The power specifications for the 9800GT call for a minimum of a 400W powersupply so trying to run it on a 300W system would be asking for problems.
