How far can i overclock the 550 with a Cooler Master Hyper TX2 i guess.
My vga will def. get bottle necked from the cpu, But any tips guys? I currently have a msi p6ngm and a E5200 @ 3.33ghz with stock fan. HELP! PLEASE!

Actually you will only bottleneck on quad core games with a 550BE, which is few and far between.

However, the core2duos keep up and some beat the 550BE. Going from core2duo to Phenom II x2 is silly.

Maybe you should look into a higher OC or possibly an upgrade to the superior E8x00.

The 550BE should overclock to 3.8-4.0ghz, as will most (45nm) C2Ds.

E5200 is a dual core lol
Anyway, so what do you think i should do. overclock the 550BE to 4.0ghz or something - get a core 2 duo and overclock that pretty hard as well or stick with my dual core and overclock it ?

Toms recently did a reveiw that revealed that a sinlge video card would not be cpu bound by a dual core. You can get a quad core 9850 for the same money as that dual core if its processing power you're worried about.
The X2 550 usually hit 3.4- 3.5 at stock voltages and 3.9-4.1with higher voltages but your milage vary.

unlock that CPU!! (or at least try to). 4 cores at 3.1ghz for the price of a dual core is just sweet and will work great with that 5870.

If I was you i'd overclock your current CPU and try that out. If you're still being held back get something better that is compatable with your mobo. Buying new ram/mobo/cpu for Phenom II is pointless because it is a laterall move.

Overclock your current CPU, test, if unhappy buy a nice c2D and beat both your current AND Phenom II X2.
