I just purchased a new PC. Here are the specs: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz w/9gigs of DDR3 RAM at 1333 mhz; ATI Radeon 5970 HD; 1TB hard drive; 850watt PS. I bought it primarily for gaming. I've read about the benchmarks for the 5900 series of ATI Radeon and splurged for the video card. Thing is, I wanted to check and see if I'm getting the best performance. With max settings I am running COD MW2 at 60 fps. My 3D Mark Vantage AW Mark Score is 15135. I've read people with the same card are getting better fps and higher scores. Any ideas? Thanks!
I'm running it at 1900 X 1080. Catalyst™ Control Center Version 2009.1006.2226.38455. Driver Packaging Version 8.663-091006a-090115C-Dell. It's an Alienware Aurora. I've seen on some sites that the 5970 is exceeding 120 fps with all settings max on COD MW2. I've looked at OC'ing my 920. Found a good layout for OC'ing the Alienware bios here http://en.community.dell.com/forums/p/19310782/19613421.... Will I really be able to pick up 40+fps by OC'ing the processor? Thanks!
Tx man. Yah, I turned off Vsync and quickly went up to 95 fps. Even with 4XAA. Much better. When I burn this machine in (couple of weeks), I will look into OC'ing my 920 up to at least 3.4. Also may OC my 5970 then too somewhat. Goal is to hit at least 130 - 140 fps on COD MW2 (my fav game right now). Cheers!
