Puzzled about PS Wiring Harness

This is my very first Homebuilt system. I'm actually teaching mysely with the help of Tom's Hardware site. I have a Corsair 400W PS and on the end of one of the harness cables there is 2 4pin plugs. Is one of these the one I'm to use in the 4 pin socket for the Processor pwr? If so I will tape back one of them and use the other. The plugs are only about 1 1/2 in from the wrapped part of the cable. Why the exrtra plug and so close?
