Hi,

I have DELL XPS 435mt desktop with (intel i7 cpu), it comes with 4GB (4x1GB), I am thinking of upgrading to 12 GB, can I put 2x4GB on the remaining 2 slots?

On the motherboard I saw MX58M01, I saw posting on the net someone mention is use triple channel memory, is that mean I have to have 3 memory DIMM with the same speed and size? or I can mix and match.

can I also use 4GBx1 Memory DIMM with DELL XPS 435 or I have to use 2GB memory DIMM

There is not a lot of info from dell website so I am not sure what type of memory or configuration should I buy.

I apprecaited if you could direct me in the right direction.

Thank you.

Crucial has a great memory compatibility system, They will show you how much RAM that Dell can handle,

http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Studio%20XPS%20435

It says that it will support 24 Gig of RAM and you should use 3 sticks in each channel,

The max is 4Gig per slot. But I do not know if you can put 2 4Gig sticks and 1 1Gig stick in the same channel.

You may have to put the 1gig in the first or last slot in that channel for it to work.

Hi 1haplo,

Thank you for the reply, I think I may get 3x4GB instead of 2x4GB just to be in the safe site.

Thanks again.
