The GTX 260 requires a dual 12v+ rating of 38.
    For example:
On my Thermaltake Black Widow 550 Powersupply the 12+ ratings are
    #1=17
    #2=18
making my combined 12+v rating a total of 35.

It will gladly run the required 25 rating for the GTS 250, but I would like to have at least a Thermaltake 600 watt with the (combined) rated 12+v rail of 48 to run the GTX 260 with power to spare..

Yes you would definitely want to check into a good 600 Watt PSU as they usually have a better dual 12+v rating to handle the power hungrey 260.
On a side note, you'd probably be able to run the GTS 250 without needing a new PSU because it only requires a 475 watt.

WOW. Yes, that should be a case to be reckoned with!
    Good Luck with your upgrade!
(just so you know, Best Buy had the BFG GTX 260 OC this week for $181.99, sale price not shown on website.)
