Ok this is getting on my nerves! I just got my 5850 and for some reasone dx11 WILL NOT WORK. I have the unigine heaven benchmark, dirt 2, and the call of pripyat benchmark, and dx11 will not work in any of them. Dx10 will work but I just can't figure out why dx11 will not. Any suggestions?

What OS are you using? You have to have Win 7, or use a work around in Vista to allow you to install DirectX 11 drivers.

I have windows 7, using latest catlayst driver 10.1. This is my first ati card in probably 8 years. Just can't figure out why it won't let me use dx11. There is an option in the call of pripyat benchmark that lets you choose whether you want dx 11 or not and it won't let me choose it.

Are you using the RC? A guy I know had the same problem where tesselation wouldn't work, but it was because he was using W7 RC. So he got the RTM and everything worked after that.

haha yes I am! Hmmm wonder where I could find a cheap copy of windows 7. I'm guessing it's the same price anywhere I go.

Hello heremy8,

Have you checked compatibility?
Just an FYI for you.

It is always best to check with the software manufacturer FIRST. They will tell you if they have tested the product and the version, as well as whether or not it will work with Windows 7.
Check out the Windows 7 Compatibility site: (There you will find out about hardware and software compatibilty.)
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/en-us/de...
There is a pulldown from which you can choose "hardware" and "software".

There are also some great articles, instructional videos and such to help with your Windows 7 at our Springboard site:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/default.aspx

In any event a lot of the times, Vista drivers will work in lieu of Windows 7 drivers, however, it's not 100%!

As stated previously, it's best to have the Windows 7 certified drivers installed.

Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/catego.... It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assitance and support.

Thanks again,
John M.

He was still using the Release Candidate. New ATI drivers don't like that.
