Hello,
I have fitted an AMD 64 X2 6000+ process to my ACER T180. It still runs at 1GHz although the new CPU will run at 3GHz. How can I reset the mother board? Do I need to upgrade the BIOS first?

It might work with an updated bios you can find that on ACER website. I have a feeling that it wont work alot of those pre built motherboards have a wattage limitation its usually 89 watts and that x2 6000+ is 125 watts. So if you upgrade bios and it still doesn't work then thats why and you would have to step down to an Athlon 64 x2 5000

Thanks for that SAAIELLO. I noted that there are warnings on the ACER web site that if you have changed the hardware the upgraded BIOS may not run on the revised hardware and I could be left with a dead machine. There are no bit switches on the M/B to set the clock or multiplier (and no manual). However, The PSU in the machine is rated at only 250W. I do have 350W spare PSU. I'll try that and see if that realses the extra oomph.

Thanks for your help.
