Hey guys,

Here is my previous thread that has some decent information in it. Basically my girlfriend bought me a 5770 for valentines day and I'm getting same FPS that I had with my HD3850. So I need to upgrade my CPU but cant with current MB. I do have some parts laying around that might be valuable. The goal of this upgrade would be to get the most out of the 5770 with out spending a ton. I have 2 gig's of g-skill ddr2 800 laying around. I have a spare case. I have this PSU. so basically I need a new MB and CPU that works with the ddr2 and PSU.

Is ddr3 backwards compatible with ddr2? Can I put ddr2 in ddr3 slot and upgrade the ram later?

Well I would like to get the cpu and MB for 200 or less. I just didn't want to get new PSU,RAM,MB,CPU. That would be a ton of money =).

I found a board and CPU I like I just have one question. The board says it's an am2/am2+ board but all the review's say it's am3 compatible? Will their be some kind of penalty for running an am3 processor on it? Like lower FSB or something?
