Hello, I'm trying to figure out if my monitor is HD or not because I'm going to buy a new computer and 1 reviewer said that the comp requires an HD monitor.

By googleing i find stuff talking about 720 i/p or 1090 i/p but not sure what that means.

My monitor goes to 1280 x 720 reso and 1280 x 1024 if that helps at all.

1920 x 1080 is HD 1280 x 720 is scaled down HD and both only require a DVI connection not HDMI, HDMI is just DVI + audio.

In the simplest terms that's all it is, 8 channel audio and up to 1080i video via a small plug in connector.

What about 22' 1680x1050, i know its not 1080p but when I watch blurays with it it looks pretty good, I run it dvi.

what would this be like, close to 720p quality?

Most likely 1280 x 720p which is the closest HD standard to your native resolution.
