Two questions:

I've been using a Samsung F3 103SJ connected to an Asus A8V-Deluxe mb (K8T800Pro chipset, VIA VT8237 Southbridge with VIA VT8237 and Promise PDC20378 controllers). I stumbled across mention of updating the firmware, but it appears necessary only for P85 and SB850 chipsets. Currently the drive has version 1AJ10E4 and haven't encountered any issues. I've seen mention of version 1AJ10E5 (no download sites found yet), but do I even need to be concerned? I figure not but want to be safe here!

Also I'm looking at various 2TB internal hd's to use with my Vantec NexStar CX 3.5in External Hard Drive Enclosure (Model: NST-300SU-BK) to be connected to Windows (XP, Vista, Win7). Its sole purpose will be as a backup for all my photos, music, videos, software, etc. Due to cost savings and performance less a concern, my choices have been narrowed to:
- Samsung F4 HD204UI from Newegg (firmware issues?)
- Seagate Barracuda ST320005N4A from BestBuy and others (some reliability issues?)
- WD Caviar Green WDBAAY0020HNC-NRSN (read it may actually be the WD20EARS model?)

I'm leaning towards the WD Caviar Green from Best Buy independent of it being the older or newer model. All have positive and negative user write-ups, but any strong reason to steer clear? And if I do go this route and it's a new model that supports Advanced Format, will I need/want to do anything in terms of alignment? This I guess is for another post after several if's occur (and I do a bit more reading for info/answers).

Thanks in advance!
