SMART Test

Hi all,

I am inquiring anyone who can answer this(with out a Let Me Google That For You link). So if a Hard Drive is not equipped with SMART, I am not able to see if it has any bad sectors; correct?

I want to know if it the the OS or the HDD causing my system to Blue Screen on me.

You would have to go back quite a long time to find a drive that didn't have SMART support.

What is the model number?

Have you enabled/disabled SMART support in BIOS?

I am connecting it to a computer (externally) running the latest release of Fedora, which I think is 16.

Bsod will always say what caused it. If you aren't fast enough to see it on the bsod itself, you can look in event viewer or reliability center in windows 7.

In Linux you could use smartmontools, in particular smartctl (IMO, the best SMART utility):
http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net

It has extensive support for USB mass storage devices.
